ecu question

ecu question

does anyone know if the ecu out of a 91 se will work in my 93 gxe???? thanks jonathan

It depends on the transaxle. If both cars are automatics, you are fine. However, if the SE is a 5spd, I think you may run into problems?

Exactly. They have different ones for auto's and 5 speeds. Federal or Cali emissions makes a difference too.

actually the transmissions shouldn't matter. As long as it's VG for VG which it is you should be fine...

Eesh...Not sure on that. When I got my JWT ECU they needed to know motor, tranny and emissions. Maybe they were just covering their butt, or didn't realize they didn't need to know. I thought it messed with rev limiters and stuff. Maybe not.

Are you sure about that Chris? I believe that a Auto VG ECU will work with a 5-speed, but a 5-speed will NOT work with an Auto.

That's what I thought, but it was a long time ago for me. Hated to disagree with ya Chris, but it just didn't quite sound Kosher.

I know that my auto ecu doesnt have the signal for the power valve on the ve 5 speed manifold. I tested this last weekend...thanks Craig.

but I have a ve not a vg just thought I would throw that out.
