tranny problems
tranny problems
so yesterday i go to change my oil, and i found a little bit of fresh tranny fluid on the bottom of my tranny. i take it to vavoline cuz i know a mechanic that works there and i wanted to get a better look at it. he wasnt there so i went back the next day. checked it out and found a lot more tranny fluid and comming from three places, the bottom of the tranny casing, the cltuch, and another place where some rod looking thing connects to. not only that but there was some cable that was very much out of place, so much that the guy didnt want to check the tranny fluid because if he but the cap back on and it was a hair off the whole tranny would go. any one have any ideas or the same problem?

how does the clutch feel. a failed front tranny seal (input shaft) would cause fluid to end up in the bellhousing, and clutch would start slipping. Axle seals? What cable thing? Only cables on our trannies are wires for the rev and neutral safety. Oh, speedo cable. Can't see how that would keep him from checking the fluid.
yeah it was the speedo cable and he said though if he put something back and it was like a cm off then it could mess the whole tranny. the reason why i say i need to get a new clutch is that the other day i was on the high way and i was going into fitfh from fourth and the clutch just kinda mushed out and went all the way to the floor, it always has gone to the floor but went down differntly this time, and i couldn't put it into any gear. when i tried the gears started to grind.
the mushimess isn't your clutch. even if you have no clutch (worn down all of the way like mine was) it will still engage and disengage normally, just slip really bad. You need to have your master cylinder check for your clutch. check the fluid levels. If they're low then you need to get a friend and put some fluid into the master cylinder then bleed it using the bleeder screw on the slave cylinder. If you look on the bottom of your tranny there is a hole in the bell housing on the bottom right where it connects to the engine, check for tranny fluid there. If there is some leaking out of that then your input shaft seal is gone and needs replaced. Are there any strange grinding noises while the clutch is not pressed in?
no there isn't strange grinding noise, but i have always had to put the clutch to the floor, and one day on the high way a week ago the clutch or something else gave, and i couldnt put it in any gear. i pulled over though waited a couple of minutes, and the car has been ok i guess, havent had the same problem yet, but still the clutch feels strange, and shifting isnt that smooth.
