Just wondering if my clutch might be in the early phase of going out. Last Friday I was at a stop light and there was a newer Gran Prix with the 3800 in it. He reved his enginge so I knew hew was gonna try to take me. When the light turned I let her go. He stayed with me for through first, when I hit second I started pulling on him, buy the time I hit third he was toast. When I hit second it seemed like the engine was reving more than what my accelereation felt, like I was slipping/ spinning my wheels, but I wasn't. I have felt this (sensation) one other time when racing. BTY it was cold 15+ degrees. Any imput appreciated. Are there tests to test the clutch?

this doesnt answer your question...but pay attn to this and keep this in mind....when at idle if you hear slight knocking, press on the clutch and if knocking goes away then youve got a tranny problem....maybe minor but turns bad if unattended

"tranny problem"
if you hear the knocking that goes away when you depress the clutch, it's not so much a tranny problem as it is a release bearing problem. You usually replace the release bearing when you change the clutch anyway. Try going about 25-30mph in 4th gear and flooring it, see if the engine revs up without accelerating. Of course if it does, then you're clutch is pretty much fried by this point. How many miles on your car? I am about to hit 100K with what seems like the stock clutch to me, and mine still grabs like new. IS this normal for them to last this long on a V6?
