Best thing to do to VTC

I just got a 93 se 5-speed and quickly found out that it likes to tick when its cold. It has 123k miles and i figured I'd look into how to fix it. I want to try grounding it but I'm not exactly sure how to do it or if it will even fix the problem. I can't afford having them rebuilt...any suggestions? Does rewiring the VTC affect engine performance at all? I won't be destroying anything will I?

On this forum search is your friend.

go here and look at my post for the link to Craigs page on how to rewire.

It does affect performance according to those that have replaced them but I think that its probably minimal.
