Need help with transmission problem...

Just installed new motor mounts, steering rack boots, and right side axle. Went to go for test ride, and car barely moves. It revs fine, but there's a grinding noise coming from tranny. It does the same thing in forward and reverse. Before I put in the axle, I laid it beside the old one, and it was exactly the same. FSM test says that the wheels should spin the same direction in neutral. Well, I did the test, and the other wheel doesn't turn at all (same thing when turning other wheel). Clutch & tranny were both fine before this project, and clutch still has full motion. Sorry for the long post; any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Tried the wheel spin test in 1st gear; right wheel still spins freely, left is difficult to turn.

Anyone know a good transmission shop in Northeast Ohio??

Hi, if you didnt get your car fixed already I may have an idea what is wrong with it. More than likely you didnt get the new axle seated all the way into the transmission. It should go in and need pressed in to get the c clip to lock into the tranny. If it doesnt lock in, as soon as you give it gas it will push the axle out of the tranny and grind on the end of the axle splines. take the axle back out and check the splines that go into the transmission. If they are not all chewed up from it being installed wrong, then reinstall it and make sure you get it seated properly. Hope this helps.
