needing some guidance!!!

first of all this is my very first post so it might be long. i just bought a 92 ve 5 speed and man did this thing just run awesome but then it would misfire. I think it was misfiring, because i would hammer it then it would kick back lose power, i would take foot off accelerator then it would come back. this would only happen once in awhile. Well i thought it was the plugs, so i changed them to the stock ngk plugs man were they $$$. So i notice i get some crisper acceleration then i decide why not put fuel injector cleaner in so i did. well it lost a lot of power for about 2 days so now it's burned off. i use 93 octane gas and now i don't have that power i once started with. it takes forever to accelerate now and i'm starting to worry. im mechanically retarded but i have a family freind that can do the work. but i need to know if fuel injectors would cause a loss in acceleration, and cause your car to jerk a little. I mean i almost lost to a taurus on the highway please help me i need to represent the maximas better than this. I don't beat on the car like a typical teenage ricer, but now and then it would be nice to stomp a civic hatch with a swap. i'm afraid to open my car up because it uses some gas and hesitates. oh yeh it's really hot here but this was tonight and it's around 65, a cool night. so i don't know if the typical max sux in heat thing is what i'm going through. all i know is there's a lot of smart owners on here that might help me. oh yeh please don't tell me to search because right now i don't know what to search for. peace jerad.

the coils are located right above your spark plugs. you've got three in the front and three in the back. they're all roundish looking at them from the top. the front three has one screw holding them in. the back three as two screws. just unscrew them, pull them them out, and see if they're cracked or discolored.

ok i have one question. when i changed the plgus in the back 3 and disconected the wires to unscrew the two screws would it mess up my car if i put the coils in out of order? I might have mixed up two would this make a difference because i'm thinking of swapping the two to see if it will? will it hurt anything if i do this? thanx peace

swapping coils is ok. just make sure you don't swap the connections to it.

what kind of injector cleaner did you use? the gunk you dump in the gas tank on a fill-up?

that could be your problem. those cleaners contain HARSH chemicals that can actually eat the insides of the fuel injectors. either that or they can break loose gunk in the fuel lines and clog the injectors.
they could also do the same to the fuel filter.

try changing your fuel filter and see what happens there. (it's the metal can on the firewall with two big rubber hoses on it. be careful when removing it cause he fuel is under pressure- it'll spray a bit when you pull the line off. I just hold a rag over it, but others relieve the pressure before opening the system.

Sounds a lot like my Mass Air Flow Sensor problem. It started as an occasional miss, and/or bog down. Then it got worse, it would lock into fail safe mode (would go above 2250 rpm). I got a new MAF sensor and that fixed it.

Have yours checked out. If it's bad, I have an extra one that I bought to replace mine when I could wait on shipping for another one I had already bought.
