weird problem after installing new right side half shaft 92SE

I just installed a rebuilt cv axle on the right (pass.) side on my 2 SE 5 speed....now when I accelerate hard from a stop the car steers back and forth from right to left if i dont hang onto the steering wheel, so it is pulling from side to side...it doesnt seem like an alighnment problem......any ideas what might be causing this, or what may need to be adjusted?? any thoughts would be great....THANKS!

Um, I wouldn't drive too fast until you get that fixed. How did you take apart your suspension to remove the axle? IF you removed the ball joint bolts, there shouldn't be too much of an alignment issue, but if you futzed with the tie rod, you might have changed your toe settings. Get an alignment shop to look at it.

I just finished replacing my CV boots because I had such a hard time finding the correct axle at parts stores. The guy at the import parts place where I bought the boots told me that the VLSD axle has two sets of splines on the tranny end, where the non-VLSD has only one (which mine has). I have no idea if it's true, but this guy has been in business a long time and is very knowledgeable. When I do the wheel spin test in neutral, both mine spin the same way.

BTW - replacing the boots is REAL easy. I can't believe I f***ed around for days trying to find an axle, and it only took me about 2 hours and $23 to replace both inner and outer boots (right side). If you know your CV's are ok, I would definitely recommend doing them yourself. Good luck.
