Idling speed problems

I donīt know if the european engines are the same..
My engine is a 3,0 litre V6.
And now the problems...On startup with A/C off. RPM is about 1500-2000 rpms...even when normal temp is reached...After about 30-40 secs, it goes back to 800-1000..when I press the pedal and release it...the engine goes back to 1500 rpm...then after a 30-40 secs it lowers the rpm to 1000...When driving in citys, traffic jams itīs a big problem, Does anybody have the same probs?

Try cleaning your intake and resetting your idle.

The MAF and the pipes going to the engine looks brand new...I just got the car so i donīt know anything about it...what intake should i clean...the filter box or the intake-manifold...And how do you reset the idle...I had the batteri disconnected for 5 hour when installing the soundsystem and anti-theft...No change !
Iīm greatful for any kind of help or a psuh in the right direction..

Try cleaning the intake manifold. It may have accumulated a lot of gunk over the years. Do a search onthis forum on "Cleaning throttle body" and you should get heaps of hits on how to do it.

Resetting the idle is easy as long as you make sure you close the AAC valve. This is done by turning the diagnostic screw on the ECU (located behind the centre kickpanel of drivers side) fully into diagnostic mode. Once this is done you can adjust the idle by adjusting the screw (under a black bung on the throttle body) to the factory setting. If the car stalls when you turn the ECU screw it is because the idle is too low!

Once you have set the idle, turn the ECU screw fully back the other direction. Again, a search should bring up plenty of hits on this topic also.
