you kinda need it, well i think so at least. it checks a wire to see what the voltage is that is comming out of it. once you rip off that dash your are going to see a sh*tload of wires back there. your gonna need to know what wire is ground and what wire has enough voltage comming through it to light up the guages. you must also make sure that wire only has power when the lights are turned on. i didnt thhink about it the first time, so as soon as i turned on the car they came on instead of comming on when you turn the lights on like they should. i know i used the group of wires that clip into the far right of the guage cluster. i cant remeber what colors they are tho

why not goto Radioshack, buy some "blade fuse taps", tap the parking light fuse with the wire for the indiglo transformer/power and just power the actual gauge off another wire in the car(ie- cig lighter, etc.) or just use another fuse tap on one of your other fuses(ie- ACC maybe)

i understood the concept its not hard. its like adding an amp to your car just find a hot wire tap,it ground,it put on the plastic grauge covers, dont break any thing take a part your car but not in that order.

no you dont have to check all of them. usually ground is black and power is red. in this case tho i think the wire was green(not sure at all). you dont have to cut the wires to test them or anything. i just tested it from that connector that all the wires come through.
