Auto to Manual, parts list?

You've talked about it, somebody's brother's cousin's best friend did it. Could anybody out there post me a parts list? At least the parts that are specific to my conversion, I'm not asking for every nut bolt and screw of course. And BTW can this be done without removing the engine?

When I get the parts together, I'll start looking for a willing (drunkened) mechanic.

Thanks for any info,
Nolan

well your gonna need to start off with one of these...

:then your gonna click the Faq link up top of the board, and go thru the microfiche for the J30 maxima.

:after that buy a FSM and start calling part stores.

And you can do the swap with out removing the engine

you will need to do lots of things, if you want I will help you the most I can as I have tackled this one and have all the schematics you will need via ALLDATA and technical reading and blueprints you can compare.

well honestly it all omes down to if you like to experiment and can do without your car for a few days. If so then do the swap otherwise sell you car and get a 5-speed for cheap!

I plan on doing the swap once my autotragic dies mainly because I want a five speed and it will be cheaper than rebuilding the automatic and labor.

yeah.. seriously it comes down to mechanical experience.. and money.. i got my tranny and EVERY THING FOR IT for 400 dollars and 150 for the clutch kit. so total came about 550.

if you never pulled a tranny before. or dont even know how to change drive shafts.. its not really recommended.. plus YOU will need a lot of small things that are over looked.... with that said good luck

hehe, these are reasons that I'm glad my dad can do all of this stuff. I was planning on the whole conversion being under a grand, but 550 is really really good. I should have jumped on that tranny before you did But then again, you had dibs on it the whole time.

Cool. I'll take all the info I can get that will help a shop do this. Would you ever do it again? If not, maybe you know someone in your area that would. There is no bonafide performance shop around here, I think any shop I called would have a good laugh at me.

You never know....I called an ad in the paper for rebuilt transmissions, and the guy said he could do the whole conversion for 1100 (take about a week)...said he did these all the time (I don't know about that). Try some engine/transmission rebuilding shops.
