Drain plug washer question

I'm picking up my "new" Max (93 SE) tomorrow and was going to order some stuff off of Courtesy Nissan to change engine oil, tranny fluid, etc. My main question is which side do you put the oil drain plug washer onto the drain plug? Sorry if that seems like a dumb question, but I've never seen a washer designed like that. Thanks

open face facing up..basically when you hold the bolt (head of bolt towards the ground) your washer should have the a U_U look when looking at it sideways.

from the pic you gotta flip it upside down.
