Annoying rattle from the front...

OK, guys...

I have been experiencing a rattling noise coming from the engine bay within the last few weeks. I don't know what could be causing this, but it reminds me of the sound I was hearing just before I had to replace my radiator & H20 pump last year. My radiator isn't leaking, and my coolant level is where it's supposed to be. The car doesn't run hot, but I noticed that the Master Cylinder seems to get warmer than I remember it getting in the past.

I just changed the oil yesterday and the mechanics noticed that all of my fluid levels are fine. I did notice that the brake fluid was a little bit low about a week ago, and that my brakes don't seem to be as solid-feeling as they normally are. I filled up the reservoir for the brake fluid and it hasn't gone down since I added to it. I don't know if any of this would contribute to the noises I'm hearing, but I'd like to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Check your heat shields on the exhaust manifolds and front pipe. Make sure they haven't loosened up due to corrosion of hardware.

Is it a constant rattle or only under acceleration or something?

Is it a rattle or more of a knocking sound? This could be coming from the front sway bar/link bar bushings being worn. This would not make a constant sound however.

Good question - I should have clarified that...

Thanks for asking...

The rattle only occurs when I'm changing gears, but is especially noticeable when going from moving from a standstill in 1st gear. I was told by a mechanic to have my transmission checked (but I think he was throwing salt because I didn't use him to have my tranny redone). Other than the noise, the car works just fine. I just don't want to find out it's something simple that will cause a bigger problem later on.

Probably the heat shields on your y-pipe. I had the same problem too. Removed the heat shields and changed to a WSP ypipe. No more problems
