help on installing intake
help on installing intake
i have a 91 black max, im planning on buying a new intake for my car, i think ill go with the k&n but i have to wait for about 2 yrs b4 buying it. for the peeps who has a custom intake do you guys also replace the stock filter?? does anyone know if replacing the stock filter increase the aggressive noise and how hard is it to replace the intake, cuz i never replace anything in my engine bay b4
in my opinion...
your car is a 91 and if you wait 2 more years for an intake it would make the car 13yrs old and i wouldnt think it would be worth it but thats up to you unless you are just talking about a drop in filter to replace the stock one then in that case it would be a good idea. the k&n are really nice and durable. I think a k&n drop in would definetly be worth it.

Re: in my opinion...
umm... u should just get a place racing cold air intake. and it comes with a "****ty" monster flow, but u should get a K&N filter for it. and dont wait 2 years wait like 2 weeks, because it comes with a cut out, so its easy to do. and u should do it like soon because it sounds good

If you want it cheap and easy, find a MAF adapter (aka, an "intake adapter") at a speedshop or something. Then buy a generic 3" inlet cone filter. This is your instant intake.
Removing your stock filterbox is hard/tricky though. It basically slides out by twisting and is held in by 3 rubber feet on the bottom (you can see them). I cracked one when removing mine.
It was a huge PITA to me.
It was worth it though, because then you're bypassing the intake resonator down in the fender. This makes it sound real gutsy when you push it. Remove and plug up the other resonator under the MAF with a plumbing cap if it's still not loud enough.

has anyone been to autozone and they those intake cones, buts its not a good brand like k&n or stillen, its just like a store brand, has anyone bought one of those and installed it on there max, if so is it the same as the brand cones? this cone i saw was only 20.00, do you think its worth to buy??
im pretty sure youre talkin about APC filters
they are really cheap and even come with a rubber lip and a clamp so it makes most jobs really easy. they give that nice rumble when pushed hard, but dont expect the same kinda performance as a K&N.
no real complaints with em though

theres 2 resonators
the one that ur talkin about is in between the headlight assembly and the airbox
it underneath the plastic tube thats runs between them.
not too bad to take apart
i had the most trouble with the funnel-like piece thats right under the headlight bracket
