hello. my injectors may be clogged. has anyone here experienced clogged injectors?

my symptoms: at idle very rough and dies sometimes. (when i say very rough i mean very rough) when i presss on the gas it doesnt do much then makes a popping noise possibly a backfire and then goes, this is around 2000 rpms.

I put a bottle of valvoline fuel systems cleaner in.
Im thinking this could be my o2 sensor also. but the backfire confuses me.

I know it could also be a bad injector. anyone pay to have new injectors put in? how much?

seriously I need to figure out what this is so i can fix it.

thanks

When I have had injectors go my check engine light has come on. I have sometimes gotten the problem to clear by running injector cleaner in a couple of tanks of gas.

I'd try that - I'd only use Techron. I have never had any other injector cleaner clear a problem - and not even Techron sometimes.

Worth a try though.

Thats kind of a relief because my check engine light isnt on. Do you think it would be ok to run lets say two bottles of techron in one tank of gas?

That's not a clear question because there are different sized bottles. Just get actual "Techron" and read the proper application. Rather than a "double dose" I think it's better to use the proper amount but run it through 2 full tank full's of gas.

IMHO

Let us know how you come out...

If you suspect the injector clogged buy an injector cleaner made by 3M ($18.00) and a special hose for it. Connected somewhere between the injectors and the pump. Disactivate the pump through its fuse or pump connector. Disconnect the vaccum hose for the fuel pressure regulator and let the car run directly from the can. That should clean the injectors.

The product is sold at carquest.

The problem you describe is also associated with a bad TPS or bad air flow meter. So make sure that those are working properly also.

I had bad injectors and I had to replace them, we did all six at once since the car had about 90k on it when we replaced them, that's a lotta mileage. Dunno the cost, you can get new ones for like $150 on ebay for the set of six.

injector clogged ?

Hey my friend, the only thing I can think of with this backfire of yours is that possible that you have missed up the wire. That is the wires from the distibutor to the spark plugs.Have somebody check that. When standing infront of he car the top cyclinders are 135 and bottom 246 leading to the distributor. Most distributor caps have labels with the corresponding cilinders numbers on them. That is the only explaination for this backfire. Good luck.

well if the injector is clogged whatever chemical you want to use won't get past the clog so basically the rest of the injectors will be really clean excpet the clogged one.

Wouldn't the chemically disolve the clog? I would imagine it is like using Draino in a bathtub.

I used to use Chevron 20 ounce Fuel System Cleaner, car ran great with it in tank. However on the next tank it didn't have the same get up and go. Used BG 44K, car is running better than it ever did and continues to run as well on the next 2 tankfulls. I am now going to use BG 44K every 6k miles rather than Chevron every 3k miles.
The dollars are a wash but I believe BG 44K is a better product!

guys...you are stabbing in the dark with no direction...

If you suspect clogged injectors, look into it a bit more..

a clogged injector causes what??? lean conditions...so check the spark plugs!!

Also, about the backfiring: Did this happen all of a sudden? If so, how long since the timing belt was done? If it has jumped a tooth, you may be nearing the death of your engine unless you fix it before it jumps further or breaks.

backfiring can be caused by bad valve timing (belt jump) and can also be caused by an overly rich condition, leaving unburnt fuel to be pushed out in the exhaust stroke, where it can hit a hot spot and ignite.

Tell us more..when did it happen? all of a sudden, does it bet better and worse?

does it run better when it warms up?

It looks like all you can get from that rhyno site are front end loaders and other heavy equipment.
