Seems like my car already has a sort of CAI?

I was thinking about installing a CAI system in my car (should I end up keeping it) and I noticed that from my air filter there is a tube that terminates just behind my driver's side headlight. Wouldn't this be considered a CAI of sorts? I am aware that the average CAI terminates near the bumper but isn't the concept the same?

nope...the filter is still located in the engine bay allowing the air to heat up...

You are correct, BUT the stock air intake is VERY restrictive. So the new CAI setups allow cold air to be sucked in and is much less restrictive.

POP chargers are even less restrictive, BUT they draw in air that is pre-warmed by the engine bay.
