Audio System Question
I have read a lot of the posts on the board regarding problems with the Bose and aftermarket head units. My concern is that since I have the "Active Speaker" system, could I connect my Eclipse 4441 to these stock speakers without worrying about the impedance or would I have to shell out more dough to put some new speakers in my car?
If you have an Elipse, I'm thinking that you are going to be really disappointed in the sound that you hear from these speakers. Speakers get old, like anything else, and wear out. If you've got the dough, upgrade your speakers, you'll be a lot happier and doing this is really easier I think. Install new deck, run RCA's to the amps in trunk, run speaker wire to front speakers (easy, just run through rubber in door with rest of wires) and the speakers in the rear are easy to run wire to! Your call....
I agree that it is relatively easy. However, don't use most of the references that tell you that you have a 6x9 setup in the rear. Most likely it's a 6.5 like I had in my active speaker system. After acquiring some 6x9's I went to the local salvage yard and got some brackets from another 3rd gen. Took out my rear shelf package removed the speakers and installed the new ones (Eclipse). They sounded really crappy at first, then I realized that I had a phase timing error, for which I corrected (reversed the wires). Now life is great.
Now if you are using an aftermarket head, I was under the impression that it may be wise to bypass the factory clarion amp located on the underside of the trunk. Can someone please comment on this.
