We have just recently purchased a 1989 Nissan Maxima. The instrument panel is all digital, with the MPH also displaying on the windshield. However, the right 2/3 of the instrument panel does not light up. All that can be seen are the temperature and fuel gauges. In an attempt to fix the problem, we used the panel dimmer swith to dim and then tried to bring it back up to normal light. However, now the problem is only worse. The MPH can only be seen in cloudy conditions or at night. At one time, the previous owner could tap on the dash and it would come back on. Any suggestions on how the problem can be diagnosed and what parts might be needed?
