engine probs

Ok my problem is that the engine starts spazzing out!! when i am accelerating the car will cut off, start jerking, or just die! also sometimes it just dies idling. it doesn't matter if the engine is warmed up or cold, or the humidity. i have a new fuel filter, and spark plugs. i checked the ecu but i didn't get any codes, just the flashes your supposed to get if everthing is alright, and i have tried multiple times. i have a 92SE. if anyone can give me some suggestions i would appriciate it. thank you

Have your mechanic take out your ignition coils and check them for cracks, etc. Somewhat common problem

Maybe get a look at your fuel injectors. I had similar problems and had to get 3 of them replaced.

How can you tell if the coils are good anyway? Will the crack be visible?

I've checked mine, and saw no visible cracks, but some of them have strange brown colorings on them, near the end.

Check your fuel pressure on the schrader valve.

Same proble

i had the same problem, replaced some coils and it was fine, make sure you have the right kind of spark plugs in there as well. A way to find out if your coils are going bad is to have a ohm resistor test handy, the resistance is supposed to be .1 ohms give or take .1, or thats what i was told, hope this helps. peace

I had the same problem less than a week ago. I had just put my JWT pop-charger on and my dumb*** left the instruction manual inside the filter. Anyways, the point is, if you have something, like an instruction manual, blocking your airflow, it will cause the problems you've described.

Need Help with this...

I am having this problem right now. I almost got into two accidents tonight because of it! The fuel filter is about 3 weeks old, i installed a "new" used MAFS and and its just getting worse. In addition, there seems to be some kind of a leak on the fuel filter because the top of the filter seems to get a trace of gas on it. Not to mention my friend who was driving in his car behind me tonight said he smelled a ton of gas fumes behind my car. Can anyone help me out? I detailed the engine a few nights ago with some degreaser and water so I thought that might have had something to do with it. I checked the plug chambers and they seemed ok. I hope I dont have a really involved problem.

Yup, I've made a few 'followers'(i.e. cars behind me) mad (or at least got their adrenaline level surging!) as well when I suddenly decelerated all of a sudden without the brake lights turning on. Sorry, man, it wasn't intentional...

Hey, I wonder if anyone has had an accident in a Maxima due to this problem? Can they sue Nissan? I'd say this qualifies for a 'safety recall'.

PS: Hey, just what did the ad banner at the top of this page says as I read this? A law firm offering some free legal service! Maybe we should all bond together and get that law firm to sue Nissan!
