89 GXE Struts

My 89 gxe struts are mushy as well..I am told the rears can get a replacement cartridge but the fronts get replaced altogeher. I suspect an hour of labor per wheel (or more maybe) and $300 for parts..
Anyone confirm?

Tx

Haha...

Strut replacement is around 6 hours for the fronts and 6 hours for the rears. So figure around $600+ labor and around $300 for parts. Besides strut install isn't hard after you get the spring compressors from autozone (refundable deposit). Everything else is easy but the rears are alittle bit more difficult because you have to remove the rear seat. Also if you have someone help you, you can do front and rear struts in about 5-9 hours or one saturday of work. With the money you save on doing the install yourself you can buy a Front strut tower brace and some suspension techniques anti-roll bars from http://www.courtesy-nissan.com. Tell them you with the maxima club and get a 25% discount.

BAH!!

Kaleb and I did mine in about 6 hours total. most of the time it was one of us working, and another arguing with the one working.

there are many parts that almost require two people, but it can be done with one person if you wanna spend more time.

I would say I could do the whole thing in 6 hrs by myself if I didn't have to make 15 trips to the parts store and fridge... (i.e. if I have a helper continuously deliver cold beer to the car.

But we weren't sure if it was mechanicly related. It took me quite a bit longer by myself, with spousal assistance starting the top strut bolts. I had this cool spring compressor that compressed both sides at once, and air impact, but it took about 4 hours for the fronts and 6 for the rears.
