Im curious.. im sure my motor is about to die.. in a few years.. and i was planning on replacing the motor... SO.. i was just wondering.. if a 4th gen maxima engine like 95-9x model maxima engine would fit comfortably in our 3rd gen max's ie mine is a 89 gxe... any thoughts on that?
i appreciate the help thanks guys..

Hmm

Physically, the VQ30DE will probably fit under the hood. But realistically, with all the custom work required to make it fit (mounts, electronics, etc.), it's probably too cost prohibitve considering how affordable 4th gen Maximas are now.

300zx tt in a max

that would be nice.. but ridiculous.. just buy a 300z, since the drive train of the 300z is rwd, and the max is fwd.. it would be kinda expensive..

hey one guy done it and it would be a killer sleeper if a maxima had the 300zxtt engine in it

hehe

hehe,, i wish such a type of swap would be possible.. im not saying that it is.. but it impractical, a stock 300zx would beat a max with 300zx engine.. because of the weight differences.. =D

i dont know how all this came to a 300zx engine in a max.. my original question was about the... a 4th gen max, in a 3rd gen max.. because im really considering getting a 4th gen max into my car.. unless.. i`ll just buy another car.. when my max`s life is time to go..

Actually if the Max had the same exact engine as a TTZ it would probably win in a race. The Z is a pig and weighs in at around 3700 lbs. About 400-500 more than a Max..

ok ok enough about 300zx engine

and more about a swap that seems more pratical a 4th gen max , in a 3rd gen.. any opinions or difficulty..or amount of custom work??

Well...custom motor mounts..that'll get it bolted in..possibly different radiator. Probably lose A/C, could make it work maybe, depends on how its setup on the 4th gen. Once its bolted in, you'll need the whole engine harness from the 4th gen and all engine control comptuers ect..
Lots of wiring diagram interpretation and stuff. And gauges..i duno bout that.
5-speed would be easiest..no auto trans control stuff to deal with.
Then, you'd have to hope that the CV joints would work.
