Got My Hood Today!!!

I have just installed the hood on my car. I had the same problems as David did. But instead of modifing the hood I broke off the hooks, by bending the back and forth until the broke off. The clear coat is very very good. As for the fiber weave there is one small spot where the fiber got pulled apart, this is not even really noticable. Now for fitment the edges are strait, but the back of my hodd is a little high and the front driver coner is riding a litte high.I'm going to use hood pins because I not going to use the hood shocks(the socks make the hood bow up) and if it let's got it will smash the windsheild.I will send pictures to anyone that will post them.Over all I very happy with the hood.

Good luck with your hoods

Also...is the hood actually truly clear-coated?

Or is it just a clear resin? If so, that resin will be destroyed by the sun within a few months and ruin the hood.

It's happened to 3 of my friends with Honda's. Manufacturer's told them that the hoods were clear-coated when in actuality it was just clear resin.

Let's hope these hoods are the real deal clear coat.

email@xrrcd.com

damn I really want to see, I think mine is comming today or monday.

hey James If it wasnt clear coated could you just have it clear coated? since my car is being repainted now it wouldnt be a big deal. and if there is a big gap between the hood and the fenders I ll just have them realign the fenders so it looks even(my freind has this done with his fenders since his CF hood wasnt as wide as the stock one.)

Yup, if they're not clearcoated already then we need to have them clearcoated at a body shop. Should only be around 75-100 bucks. That's why I'm trying to figure out if these have an actual clearcoat or if they're just clear resin.

99% of the time it's just clear resin, but the manufacturer calls it a 'clearcoat'. That's why we need to find out for sure cuz if it's just clear resin our hoods will be destroyed in the sun within a few months...

I will see if I can get some better pictures this weekend. I would not of posted those pictures if I could have saw them on my computer. I was using my friends computer and they have the brightness maxed-out.As for the rubber trim up front, I planing on installing it pretty soon, but I will have to drill the holes.

The edges are straight, my hood atleast is the same width as the stock one , BUT it is a 1/4in high in the back and was amost that high in the front at first. Then I modified the front hood latch to go lower down than the stock adjustment. Now the front is O.K.

I dunno, some people know of a little secret called weight reduction. Eat all your vegies and do all your homework and then maybe we'll let you in on the secret.

Do you not realize it can be painted?

Damn..sometimes i see a message that just triggers hatred in me..

Dude, settle down. It's just a 180 from my pref.

Yes it can be painted, but he chose to clear coat it. I know enough about body work to realize that clearcoat usually goes on last....

But if you want to hate me, go ahead.

I'm just trying to point out that some people are actually doing this for the weight reduction aspect of it rather than the looks of it. Personally if i could afford one, I would get it, and not paint it or worry about how it looks, I just like it for what it is and what it does.

well.sorry for the jumpy remark, i was reading some other message boards also and the postings there were quite ignorant, so i was in the 'rant' mood.

I would consider painting it the body color though (if i had money again), cause i don't want it getting stolen by other 3rd genners.

Wow that looks like a good 1.5 inch or so gap in between the hood and the headlights/grille. Is it that bad in person or just look it in the pic?

Try to get some better pics.
