Hey, heres a link of a nitrous bottle in a Maxima gone bad:
http://www.enhancedhealth.com/nitrousexpress.htm
I am not sure if it has been posted here but i did not see it anywere. The funny part is, I got this link off my 4th gen Honda Civic forum. I currently drive a 4g Civic Hatch and hate it and am dead set on a 3rd gen Maxima, so you should be seeing me around here more.

Just so Nitrous use doesn't get a bad name of this........

that was total driver error, he left his damn bottle heater on for more than an hour and blew the bottle valves past their limits. btw, you'll love a Max, what model you lookng into?? go for a '94 SE auto or stick(better auto tranny, less chance of VTC problems and 190hp, can't beat that) see ya!!

I really want a 94 SE, but unfortunatly I only have $5-6k to spend on it, so I will probly get an 89-91 SE stick with low miles, or a 92 SE quite cheap so I will have money to replace the VTC (if its even bad). Is there any way to tell when a VTC is going bad? The nitro bottle wasn't entirely his fault, the safety valves should blow at a certain PSI releasing the nitrous in a harmless way. It was partly his fault and partly the manufacturers.

Yup.. that guy came to one of the other maxima boards trying to get sympathy and elp in his legal case against NX.. when we got done laughing at him for being a dumb**** we told him to go away and never come back unless he coupld shut up about the whoel thing..

we see that post about once a month around here. more often when we get lots of new people (like the last compue of months around here).. I seem to see it about once a week between 2 boards.
oh well.. it's still some scary stuff, eh?
that'll teach him to screw up a nitrous install!

Well....

VTC starts going bad you'll hear a ticking sound when you start the car up, but as for power loss and stuff, I'm not entirely sure! but wiht $5-6k i'd go for a '91 stick, w/ low mileage, thus avoiding spending $1k+ getting the VTC fixed and riskiing it breaking again!!(which is possible) plus with a few bolt-on mods under $1000 you'll have all the power of a VE max and you'll also have the VG's torque curve which is sweet off the line!!

So the VG has a better torque curve than the VE. Is their a noticeable difference between them? I am going to read the FAQ tonight.
