Borla Turbo Muffler
#2
I have a Borla Turbo muffler but, I am waiting for the rest of the exhaust to come before I put it on. I'm not sure how long that will take. As far as prices, I'd check out Jegs It's $104, which is pretty good considering it's SS Borla. Sometime in the next few weeks, whenever I get the exhaust in, I will be posting a bunch of stuff. I'm not sure how long it will take me to compile but, I was going to take pics and get sounds/video of the before/after exhaust. Here's what I have coming: WSP y/i/cat/b, already have the Borla turbo (2.25") and some Monza pacesetter dual tips (I'll remove the resonator crap from the tips so it doesn't sound wierd, I just think they look cool!). Hehe, I also might do the 5spd swap in the next few weeks, and possibly some 5-spoke wheels so my Max is going to be happy!

Maximajohnny, you are thinking of the exhaust resonator. It is basically a pre-muffler. No, the Borla turbo muffler is an actual muffler, that is at the very end of the exhaust. Yes, you will need tips or else the exhaust will be exiting under your trunk! That can wear away at the trunk floor.

I've got that muffler. Don't buy it if your looking for something fancy. However it is very functional. If you do end up geting it just make sure you buy a realy long tip because if you don't it's going to resonate inside the cabin and it's going to either stain or melt the body work.

Z...??? Can you explain what you mean? Do you mean the muffler doesn't look flashy or something? I already have it so I know what it looks like, which is plain. Though, I'm not going for the Greddy look or anything! I hate rice-looking mufflers. BTW, the monza dual tips I got are about 17" long, and the muffler itself is 13". That should be more than enough to clear the bumper.

Well, I don't know how accurate 17" is. I had the same reaction, it doesn't seem like the tips should be longer than the muffler! I think it must be a typo. Here is the tips I gotMonza I got the dual slash cut tips. If they are resonated, I'm going to remove the fiberglass material because apparently it will sound like crap if I leave it in there. I'll know for sure once I have the stuff.

I'll get a few digital pics and hopefully some digital video today. I have the Borla turbo installed on my stock exhaust (since I was bored waiting for the WSP exhaust) and I just got a plain single tip welded on. I was seriously thinking about getting the Monza dual slash cut tips again (I gave mine to a friend) once I install the WSP exhaust. The muffler itself looks really nice.

i noticed that the tip looks like it gives a single exhaust muffler a dual exhaust look....are the borla turbos single exhaust and you guys might flame me for this one, but is there a difference of performance in a dual and single exhaust muffler??? dont be cruel!!

My Borla Turbo is a single in/out. I think you can also get a single in dual out. The tip on it right now is just some straight pipe, not like an aftermarket tip or anything (IE - cheap Autozone pipe! ) The sounds is somewhat like the throaty growl of a BMW with a sport exhaust. I'll be posting a few pics and vids in a second.
Maxedout92se, there really isn't a performance difference between a single or dual out muffler. I'd just go single because it is a little easier to just get dual tips.

hmm shadow question for ya. I know there are different offsets u can get the borla turbo in did u get it in the center/ center which is the inlet and outlet put in the middle of the muffler or did you get the kind that has liek the inlet set to one side and the outset the other. if u go to www.borla.com you'll see what im talking about. im guessing its a center/center but just double checkin.

Ya shadow just email them videos I'll em get up for ya. My email is mpjohnny55@attbi.com thanx man looks pretty good.

Sorry, the video quality really sucks. My friend accidentally recorded it on the lowest quality. BTW, MaximaJohnny, it's an offset in center out muffler. Though, the Maxima needs a center in/out muffler. The guy who installed mine just added some piping to make it even.

Damn, my friend had the same problem. It must be his digital camera and the stupid drivers required. Let me see what I can do. Also, I'm going to get video with my camcorder soon, so there isn't any lag and you can actually see it! It might take some time though. MaximaJohnny, I guess forget about those vids because I think you have to have the drivers that come with the software on my friend's digital camera. Sorry.
