Please help a newbie

I am trying to inspect the bearing.. front wheel..

So brought a brand new 3 1/2 ton floor jack with stands from Sears. It is impressive in operation except that I can find a place to put it and lift..

If you look at the stock scissor jack there is a slot (slit) which fit right in to thin protruded portion

I am talking about thin portion which is underneath the car and which runs like this below from from to back it seperates painted area
-------------------------
-------------------------
and non painted (hard ??) area

Now with floor jack no such slit or slot.. It will crush the thin extended line.. I put the jack in the non painted area it went little into the material and left some marks...
Please help me with this
My car is old but I cant treat that bad

I had another question about putting those bloody rusted bolts bac on ball joint..
I guess I found the answer in some other post... I will try some of them tomorrow.. No my car is left with out those 3 bolts in right place...

Re: Please help a newbie

So you're just looking for a place to jack the car up at?

Most people use the control arms. Dont do it right under where it meets the wheel cuz it'll just push the wheel all the way up into the wheel-well. Do it on the inner portion....get under there and you'll see...
