Newbie here. Been lurking for a while thou. Heres my story...I am an owner of a 98 Mustang cobra SVT, 91 Mazda Navajo 4x4 and a 98 Chevy Malibu. The 98 Malibu is a lemon, have had nothin but problems with this POS! for ex. 4 times the serpentine belt shredded off, 2x the power steering pump, completely replaced air conditioner system, ignition problems, lower intake gaskets all replaced, wiper motor replaced and various interior pieces falling apart, plus a half of dozen other things all within only 18k miles..Never buy a demo! I am up for abitration on it in April 01 and it seems like it is taking forever to unload the POS! Anyway i am dying to get a new Max inplace of the Malibu for the family sedan thing, i love the way the car handles and looks. 4 Questions here. Is the 2002 worth holding out for. Is it really going to have the 260 hp or just a rumor at this time? Is purchasing the car in Canada really that easy and is it worth it, i live in philly? And when does Nissan usually release its new models?

Thanks for the responses.

I didn't think a re-design/new engine was coming until 2003. I could be wrong, though. I might unload mine in favor of the re-desinged/new engine. I'm hoping they'll go with larger displacement. That would certainly persuade me to unload.

I purchased my 2K in August of this year. I did this for buying leverage purposes because I found out from several dealers the 2K1's were arriving first part of September. I wanted to play the "you need to get rid of old inventory to make room for the new stuff" card. So, I would guess next September the 2002's will arrive.

Caution though, in that half the dealers I contacted in an attempt to find out when the 2K1's were arriving at the dealerships (I contacted everyone in the Atlanta metro area (5, 6, 7?), and I got different answers from, "They won't be here until December" to "They are arriving in September" to "It will be the first of the year".

The Max will get a 260hp engine for 2002, but my point is, I rather have one that has been proven reliable. I don't want one that might have bugs in it the first year, and thast why they test it in the older body before releaseing it in the new body in 2003. If 2002 are out, I will get one, but if not, i will get the 2001 when I am ready.
