CHanging power steering hose HELP?
well, looks like the power steering pressure hose is out in a 1990 Nissan Maxima.
Does anyone know how to unplug the hose from the power steering pump connected to the engine?
this is the high pressure hose, I'm able to disconnect it from the side that is more accessible and is not connected to the engine, but disconnecting from the engine is the tricky part.
anyone know?
I think I'll need a torque wrench.
anyone ever change their power steering pump, seals or hoses?

90 max power steering hose replacement
I replaced the hi-pressure p/s hose on my 90 max .. twice.
the first time I replaced it with an aftermarket piece and the p/s
pump began making weird noises like it was under stress .. after several months of listening to this noise which was making me stressed out I got a used hose from nissan only wreckers and replaced the aftermarket piece of s*** It is a pain to replace.. but very do-able... one word of caution .... when you finally get the hose off the p/s pump be very carefull.. there is a spring loaded valve assembly that is held in place by the hose.. you want to make sure that you do not lose either the spring or the valve.. and when you replace the hose that the valve assembly is installed the same way it came out.. in other words if you install it upside down it will not work very well.. if at all

Re: 90 max power steering hose replacement
Surprisingly enough - that exact thing just broke on mine! I took it to the mechanic though, 1st hose he was about finished putting on had a factory problem, second one took almost 1-2hours to put on..

Hammer?
Don't need a hammer! I used a 15/16 wrench from Sears, it was under $10 and was only about 4-5" long so it fit up near the pump easily. Take the closed end of another wrench and attach it to the open end of the "shorty" thus allowing you leverage to turn the bolt. See, no hammer! Should not take any longer than 30 minutes, tops.
