Yeah, you need those things..I wonder about fans..where do they go. Maybe on the front side of the radiator (looks pretty open without the grill there. I still like the hood mounted fan idea, just don't idle with the hood up!

Re: Re: Re: First pics of Max O/D's TURBO 92 GXE--->

two questions / observations......

1. why not just spend the extra $100 and relocate the battery to the trunk?

I'll throw the idea out for free, but my enineering fee's are $150 hr min 3 hrs :-)

2. he should run another 2.5-3" OD pipe into the fenderwall and have them fab up a sealed box for the filter to reside in. I realize with all the IC piping that there is going to be limited room for the filter in the fenderwall, but there should be room for the pipe to break through to grab some clean air... Once he looses the battery there will be pleanty of room for it. You could even design a spring loaded valve on the box that could pop open if it sucks up some water..... You could even go 4 sides solid/powder coated metal and use some sort of sealed lexan material for the other 2 sides, so that you can still see into the box.....

UPDATES!!!!!!!!!!!

since he's not one here I'll update yall...yeasterday Max O/D and I removed the downpipe, hot and cold charge pipes, intake and crossover for heat coating. Jahlil says it should take a week and a half turnaround. other than that he put the turbo timer in....I think the only real things left(before it runs) are to switch the front valve cover, install the fuel pump, install the distributor, and some other misc. ****...

the coolest part of this whole thing is getting to help work on this car first hand!! Its mad cool to know you're actually helping to get a freaking turbo chagred 3rd gen on the road!!!

Probably for drag racing, foo. That would be my guess. Why not?? The only issue is the strength of the tranny, and that's not an issue with his setup for sure. You're talking about a turbo. It's not for cutting into the twisties, it's for all-out speed in a straight line. If he were trying to make an autocrossing maxima turbo machine then yeah, 5spd might be a better way to go. But he's not, so why not auto?? What exactly is better about a 5spd in this case? High rpm clutch drops?? Well, with nitrous and a turbo that ceases to be necessary anymore. That's kinda why all the fastest drag cars are autos. A computer can shift faster...

Besides, he can always do a 5spd conversion later, right Kaleb??

are you talking to me? god ive never seen a group of car owners that have theyre heads shoved so far up there asses like some of you guys, #1 to who said about the fastest drag cars are automatic, well dumb**** did you ever consider that those are fully sponsored 5 figure RACE cars, as in NOT street legal?? okay and to who said the question about why do they make auto turbo cars, again if you would just think about it...the turbo in those volvo's and other euro cars are not made for racing. yeah your right you dont see me making any progress on my turbo project. hell i didnt even know i was going to put a turbo in there. do what you want to but if your looking for speed i would bet that you would get quicker times if you had a 5 speed, and i think you know that

well then tell me how much faster a 5spd will be against a fully built Level 10 auto with 2800 stall converter and VB(because thats what we are using)?? please enlighten me....

okay and to who said the question about why do they make auto turbo cars, again if you would just think about it...the turbo in those volvo's and other euro cars are not made for racing..
whos talking about some ****ing Volvo...why did Toyota only start making Supras with automatics in the late 90's?? oh yeah thats right the Supra isn't considered a car to "race" in silly me... get the facts straight first.

Hey Da- Max... any way you can get another couple shots of how the turbo outlet connects to the downpipe? that's what's keeping me from getting mine on the road too. just no room under there to make the bend without and kinks in it on mine- unless he moved the turbo up a lot farther than mine was....
thanks.

Personally, I like manual. Maxedout94, have some respect and don't turn this into a auto vs. manual. If you don't have something constructive to say, don't waste our time.
