There's alot of talk synthetic oils as superior to normal oils on flow, decomposition, suspension of sludge, but the price $. Are there any comparision on paraffin oil vs. normal oils? Does paraffin oils (e.g. Central Petreleum, Rotella-T) actually lubercate better, decomposes less and keeps sludge out? Is the difference slight or dramatic? Are the regular or premium SJ/SH oils any different between brands? Cost ranges from $0.89 to $2.00 Qt for regular/premium oil? Any extra in the oil except price?

Do most profession mechanics use the stuff that that just has the highest profit margin?

Paraffin is the wax they make candles out of. Do you think you want to lubricate your modern, high performance engine by rubbing a candle on the moving parts? Provided you get SG rated oil, and change it every 3,000 miles, you'll probably do fine with $.99/qt oil.
