Problems with radio and security system

Hello all,

I hope that someone can help me. I've already spent way too much time searching this forum and the rest of the web for help. Although I got some good ideas here, none of them solved my problem. So here is a general plea for help.

I have a 94 Maxima GXE. It has the stock alarm in it. I had a keyless remote added for just the door lock/unlock functionality. It also integrates with the alarm to arm/disarm. It doesn't do anything else (windows/sunroof/trunck/ignition).

In the past I've had a problem that I can recreate and I think that it's related to my current problem.

If I do these steps:
1) lock the car
2) let the system arm (wait 30 seconds)
3) unlock the doors from the keypad
4) get in and close the doors
5) try to start the car
- it will fail.

To start the car I have to click my unlock button on my key fob to release the "engine kill" security. This generally works well.

The problem that I'm having today is that the radio has stopped working. The lights on it flash when I lock/unlock the car, so I know it's getting power. My guess is that there is a "radio kill" component to the security stuff and that's preventing it from operating correctly.

I have tried:
1) unlocking with door keypad
2) unlocking with key in door
3) unlocking with keyless remote fob
4) 1-3 in various combinations
5) disconnecting the battery and discharging the system by placing both wires together
6) checked every friggin fuse under the dash and the various relays under the hood
7) checking chiltons and haynes
8) searching high and low on the web using dogpile, yahoo, altavista, google, maxima.org, maximaforum.com and more

*sigh*

It's done this before, but it just worked itself out one day. I got in the car and it worked *shrug*

Any ideas? I've heard some mention of radio codes, but I don't know what that means or how to use them. I don't have the tools to read the ECU if this model year needs one, I know our pathfinder just uses light patterns.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John
