solution for the infamous noisy brake drums?
I was reading this article about brakes that mentioned in passing that some types of emergency/parking brakes on vehicles with rear drums need to be activated on a regular basis or else over time problems can arise resulting in noisy brakes. Anyone ever heard of this?
Since my gxe is an automatic, I never set the brake unless I'm raising the car. I'm wondering if anyone who uses their emergency/parking brake alot still has the noisy brake drum problem.

it doesn't matter on whether you use the parking brake or not- 3rd gen drum brakes WILL make noise.
only brake shoes I've found that are somewhat quiet are the OEM ones, at $50+ per set.
If you want to get rid of the noise for good, I recommend swapping the rear end off an SE with dics. will give you better looks, performance, AND solve the noise problem.
