can someone please help me out?
sorry for not searching, ect. but i am short on time since i just returned home from school and i have to leave for work in a couple minutes. just thought someone could help me out here!
a couple weeks ago my power locks didn't want to work but as soon as i flipped the switch rapidly a couple times, it started working again. well, the same thing happened today as i was leaving school, but they won't work at all now. i know this has happened to people on here before so what's the problem? i am planning on taking my door panel off tonight when i get home from work but i was hoping someone could post and let me know what to look for. thanks a lot!! please excuse my lazyness (not searching) as i am really pressed for time right now!!!

when power locks start to fail every now and then to eventually not working at all (pulling up the lock will still work, but the lock/unlock buttons dont do anything), usually the door lock timer is the problem (for 92-94 maximas only)
it can usually be fixed by resoldering it
it is a grey box under the dash to the right of the steering column in front of the cruise control (ASCD) controller

sporadically responsive window switch
My parents had this problem. Turned out to be dirty contacts in the switch. You could also try squirting electrical contact cleaner into the switch and working it around. May help.

yup.. those are both the most common problems. can both be easily fixed, if you know how simple electronic stuff like how to solder and clean electrical contacts.
90% of the electrical problems in the car are caused by those two gremlins. bad solder joints and dirty contacts.
Then again, 90% of the problems on humans are the same thing.. bad joints and dirty whor- errr, "Contacts".. ;-)

thanks guys, i was thinking that it could be dirty contacts but i'll go ahead and check the door lock timer while i am at it. that sould be an easy fix. when i got off work the locks decided to work again, i swear that car has a mind of it's own, lol. anyways, i'll check the contacts first and if that is not it i will check the door lock timers.
thanks again guys, i knew the org would come through for me!!!
Craig B,
I've searched on this subject a lot, and have been unable to diagnosis my problem. Maybe you or someone else can shed some light on this problem. The first problem is that I used to be able to lock all the doors from the drivers side with key or by pushing the drivers side door lock down. Now all that happens is that the drivers side door locks, not the other 3 doors like it used to. However, the keypad still locks all 4. The more important and annoying question is that the passanger side door constantly clicks, like it is trying to unlock itself. When you manually push only the passenger side door lock down it will unlock itself on its own. However when all the door locks are locked with the drivers keypad and the alarm is set it stays locked. Since my car is an 89, then it doesn't have a door lock timer, which is the only thing that I figured it could be. So I do not know what to do. Hope you or someone else can help. Sorry for the length.
Thanks
Chris
