my max accident :( :(

Hey as you all know me, i was in an accident today, and my max got hit by a saturn. I have the driver side broken mirror and a big scratch on the back side by the door, it was my fault, the turn was coming up and i was trying to take the turn at 40mph and i lost the control, and plz don't flame me, i am really sorry , i have a court date on october 31 and i want to know what i should do, on the court date it says "Improper lane usage". I know you are telling me to go slow and stuff but i just don't know why i didn't listen, must be because teen don't listen to adult, but on the court date i have to take my dad with me because i am 16yrs old, and i just had my license for two weeks, Plz help me, the max is not hurt badly except the driver side's mirror came off, but the mirror still works, just the glass came off and is broken, There is a big scratch and no dent but a big scratch, so plz help me. And please also tell me what should i do when i get to court. And to the other teen, Plz drive slow as a one teen to another, plz go slow and i am probably stupid to do that. really sorry, and now i won't be able to drive my max, because my parent are taking it away from me, and the police took my driver licence. Plz help me.........

I don't think any Judge is going to be too nice to you since you just got your license recently. I wouldn't worry about the car for now I but it's a shame you had to hurt the innocent thing. Anyway if I were you I would be worried about still keeping your license, by the way I think 16 is a bit young to get a license you should've of been more careful.

damn....sorry to hear about that. I guess if you appear really sorry for what you've done and compose and show yourself as a responsible teen, MAYBE..MAYBE..the judge might let you have your licence a lil early...if he's really really cool, he might giive you your licence back. speak when spoken to and behave yourself and you just might get your licence back. my .02

damn dood sorry to hear that
but at least no one was seriously hurt
if you've only had your liscense for 2 weeks why did you try pulling something like that? you've barely gotten to know you car's limits and your limits as a driver. as for the court thing i dunno cuz i've been blessed to not have been in a accident of my own that is. you should really take it easy just cuz you wanna go fast and show everyone how great your car is doesn't give you the right to put others in danger. if you wanna do stuff like that take it to a track or something.
see thats why i think everyone should drive their parents car for a good 6 months before they get their own...
like my mom used to say, "if you get a dent, scratch, or scrape on my chevy tracker your *** is ****ed!"
and to this day that tracker has never gone over 75 when i drive it.... too damn afraid of my mom
best of luck to you though i hope you learned your lesson...
(damn your insurance is gonna go up) you're the reason MY insurance is high goddammit

it would really really help if you had a lawyer. They just might let u do defensive driving, but 2weeks into a licence...dunno about that...havent really heard about that happening. just think positive and it might turn out okay. Oh and if you haven't, start praying. The Man upstairs is a better helper than any judge or lawyer.

i am not worried for max, i already took max to the shop after the accident and my friend told me it will be 300 to fix it, so i am not worry for that, and i am praying to the god, i hope he listens and if the other guy doesn't come to the court, is it true that they will let me go? thats what i heard. And i will always pray to god at night when i am getting ready to sleep, and in the morning, This is the first mistake i made, i am a good student and all, never had detention or a C in report card, and i hope god can solve my mistake........

Dude your turning a little paranoid...I have only had my license for a short bit and was paranoid at first too and still kind of am. Dont worry so much, whatever happens now happens, I mean people make mistakes its how/what you do after that makes a diffrence. Obviously taking a turn doing 40 with a stock suspension isnt good especially if youve had your lic for only a few weeks. Like I said dont worry about it just see what you can do in court and go from there

Terry,

In NY and I suspect most other states, brand new drivers are under a probation period. For NY it's 6 months. If you get any violation during that period, your licence is either suspended or revoked.
Since the police were there, I suspect a police report was written. Insurance will skyrocket. You should contact the other driver and plead with him that you'll pay for damages and so on.

In any case, if your parents took your car away, you dont' need to worry about your licence. It's not like it's gone forever, just couple months. Gives you time to save up for mods.

Don't take it too bad man, you've only been driving a short period of time, inexperience is what caused the accident, you can bet your **** it won't happen again.

Be careful. Just go to court and let the judge decide.

If you learned to drive on a different car, you could try and explain that you weren't adjusted to the power of your maxima, and hence weren't TRYING to go that fast around the curve. Of course, I've never been to court for a traffic accident, so I only speak from theory, not experience.

Just tell the truth, say you were unexperienced and used poor judgement, and lost control. that you are really sorry, and you know you ****ed up.

um 16 is not a young age to drive, i recieved my liscense the DAY i turned 16, and since then no tickets nor accidents, as long as you are responsible and alert, you should be ok, but good luck with the court stuff, id say yr pretty much screwed

what's the damage to the other car/driver? your whole post sounds very selfish even by the way you state the accident - that your car got hit by the saturn.

when you go to court, if you're going to try to sound remorseful for the acident, you need to change the tone of your statements. "I lost control and I hit the saturn" not "got hit by a saturn" that makes it sound like it's the other person's fault.

I admit, when I first got my liscense and got to go out on my own, I was a littel speed freak too, but never when there is another car or person with me. I'll kill/hurt myself, but never take a chance when someone else can be affected.

you'll learn form this and you'll be paying through your nose for insurance for the next few years. try to avoid the suspension/revoking of the liscense and not geting an SR-22, but chances are it will happen. All these items will make it harder/more expensive for insurance. have you taken a divers education course at school or elsewhere, you can try to take that route and it may help to lower your insurance a bit in the future.

it'll probably come down to how you reacted at the scene. if the other driver and cop say you appeared upset at what you'd done to the other car, your composure, mindset, etc will all affect how the judge views what you've done. Research the laws where you are and see what the penalty is - chances are the judge doesn't have many options to choose from.

HI again all, Medic: i am not worried about the other driver because he only has a broken mirror and nothing else, i checked his car and ask him if there were any other damage but he only has a broken mirror, me i have a btoken mirror and a big scratch, i am not being selfish,i already told the police and the guy in the saturn that it was my fault and i lost control of the car.
Sudesh Thanx man, so its good, that i will have some money saved up for mod when i start driving, i guess after a year or 6 month i will be a good driver, my parent know that i am very sorry and they are letting me have the max after 6 month but they are still thinking. and you are right, i was inexperienced and shouldn't have done that, but i am sure this will not happen again.
THank you all for replying and your feedback: medic, Maxima91, Mizeree_X, Dummy, Sudesh, maximaracer28, D-sta, MaxHalo, lophix, and Freaknificent!! .
Anyways i'll keep you guys updated on what happens, And hope everything goes well, Thanks again.......

The previous post is the BEST ADVICE - God won't save you - You crashed your ride for a REASON you were not ready for the Max, maybe offer to swap cars with the other guy and he will drop the charges then you don't have to worry about going 40 mpH at all-

Ok, my advice is to try to keep it out of the insurance. Give the person the money and you MAY be Ok with insurance later. Insurance people are very picky. My friend was insured with state farm for 10 years and never a claim or a ticket. Then last year he got a brand new Lexus SC 430, and put his 17 year old nephew on the insurance. To cut a long story short he got in an accident and then his nephew got in an accident bth were claims for about $2000 each (for the lexus and the other cars)Next thing State farm cancelled his insurance. Me I have had 1 accident in the last year because I couldn't see a car comming (glare of the sun, in Alaska it can get very bad in the summer due to the position of the earth relative to the sun, and the cop said it happens often)and my insurance for 5 cars is around $3000 and I am 23. If I were 25 it would be $7-$800. So the point is to don't let the insurance find out, and get th eother guy's mirror fixed. And if you are a really good student (4.0 GPA or something) take it with you to the court and show it to the judge. Maybe he may feel sorry for you then.

Good Luck

Oh and also take a defensive driving course in the mean while and take the certificate to the judge too, that way he might feel that you are seriously sorry for the mistake you made.

IMO..i don't think you're really sorry at all. you may be at the moment because you know you're screwed..but i don't think u are at all. you're 16yrs old...even u said yourself that u don't listen to adults and etc. so mommy and daddy takes the car away for 6 months..once you're back behind the wheel..i'd give it a week or two..you'll be doing the same damn thing u were before. look at your sig..you're posting road kills, give me a effin break!
just be lucky that you didn't hit someone.

on the sig, thats my first race, when i didn't know the risk, and now did u see any other kills, because i don't do it anymore, thats the first one i did, and after some people telling me to not to race on street, i stopped racing other cars, but i was still going fast. And xsohaib, my GPA is 5.0 and so i'll take my reportcard there and see if the judge goes easy on me. Well think whatever you want. i don't care, as long as god knows i am sorry, everything will be allright......

And yes i already notify the insurance, and they are taking care of it but they won't pay for the damage because 500 deductible and 300 damage. Thank you T bone, and CaliBlackMaxx, you are saying i should trade my max with a saturn, i won't do that, and that is not a good idea......

driving over the speed limit can be just as dangerous as street racing. Granted, we all most likely do it, but after 2 weeks of a license, it really isn't a good idea to be pushing your car if you dont know the limits or you aren't in control.

its probably a weighted gpa. At my school, for the purpose of class rankings, we use a 5.0 scale. But that means nothing in terms of your ACTUAL GPA
