Oil Consumption

Well I have been having a big oil problem now for quite some time, but I can not pin point the problem. Something is definitely not adding up but I can not figure out what is wrong. In a week I am usually down about a half to a full quart of oil, but the weird thing is that there is no white smoke coming out of my tail pipe and there is no oil around the bottom of the engine or on the ground. Maybe its just me but this definitely seems like a weird one to me, if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks.

I know this seems quite obvious, but it happens sometimes. Check your drain plug to see if it is tight. I know it sounds simple, but I only finger tightened mine one day and I lost a good amount due to my stupidity.

Re: Oil Consumption

Usually burnt oil makes more blue smoke than white smoke.

white smoke = anti-freeze being burned.

If it's not being burned, then it's leaking.

How about when you accelerate? When you accelerate briskly, say away from a light, see if you get gray/blue smoke in your slipstream. This could mean tired valve seals. Do you SMELL oil burning. Perhaps it is driping onto the exhaust and burning up before it drips down the engine or onto the ground.
