hole in exhaust
#1
bought my 93 SE a month ago, and it sounded great. now there's a problem with the exhaust. sounds like it's coming from right between the front wheels. could i have bashed a hole in my stock ypipe or knocked it off of one of the headers if i drove [hit] a curb? maybe a chunk of ice in the road? help.. it sounds like $hit. what's the best way to repair? new cattman ypipe, patch or replace the new one?
thanks

Does it sound kind of like a clicking metal sheets tapping each other kind of annoying sound that your embarresed of?
hehe
if so you have a hole in your Y-pipe and you can buy a new one or you can have yours welded shut for like 70 bucks.
I payed 120 for fixing the Y-pipe, Glasspack, and Chrome Tip.

no clinking of metal, my friend said it sounded like i had a fart muffler. it is getting progressivly louder. a week ago when i noticed it i thought i'd wait till spring and buy a cattman when i had money, but now it's getting LOUDER! getting fed up with winter... i need an allignment from hitting curbs and blocks of ice

Well you have the VE engine. If it's a ticking it might be the dreaded VTC problem and not the Y-Pipe.
Can you smell or feel the exhaust under your hood? Anything that can definetly point to it being the Exhaust, if not and your only going by a ticking sound then it might be the VTC problem.

i dont think its VTC. it just sounds like theres a hole somewhere before the cat. haven't really lost any power, but how can i make sure it's not VTC? (there's no clicking) i pray that it's not VTC... think i'm going to have the dealer look at it tomorrow. if it is the ypipe, someone settle the controversy for me and tell me who's Ypipe is better! thanks for the help, guys.

VTC will tick, like a clock but alot faster and alot louder. Like when my car starts up it ticks for about 5 seconds then stops, it sounds like that but it just doesn't stop, it will get quiter as the car runs and warms up, but still tick from what i know.
Exhaust will kind of put, maybe have the metal clink sound like mine, and you will feel the heat and smell it from under the engine bay, and under the hood. If you pop the hood and lean all the way to the firewall just behind your engine you should feel and hear it alot better. The VTC ticking will be on the pulley side i think, not the center or under the car.
And as for the Y-Pipe, Cattman's been having problems, especially with your engine. Warpspeed is the way to go for now.

Another possibility
Another possibility could be your flex tube. I have the same problem on my Maxima and could get the tube replaced for $100. But instead, I am going to wait and get the full WarpSpeed Exhaust System.
