I live in Canada and it gets really cold up here in the winter. Anyways we go freezing rain last night and this morning I took the ice off and assumed that my wipers weren't stuck so I pulled the arm down to start my wipers, when I did this you could hear the mecanism inside trying to get the wipers going. Well now, the ice is gone and if I try and get my wipers going, I can here the mecanism turning every second or so but my wipers aren't moving. Did they detach themselves??

Is this easy to fix??

Interesting.....

when that happened to me before I poured a pot of hot water on them, let it sit, flipped the switch again and wallah, worked like a charm!!!! but if anyhthing I'd say the wiper motor might be shot, doesn't seem to me like it would be a major cost maybe even a DIY job?? wait for some more responses, this is my best guess......

well I don't think that the motor is shot because you can hear it working under the hood but the wipers don't move.
If I make them go faster you here the motor turning faster but still no movement

Yeah.....

I didn't really mean tottally broken that just how I refer to it. I guess its kinda like when my power window crapped out on me. the motor still hummed, but the window wouldn't come up at all, so I found out it was the "power window regulator", a component of the whole system! maybe its something like that that might be wrong???

You probably stripped the motor gear that attaches the motor to the wiper actuators.
