We've got a 91 Max GXE? (not sure, it's her car) with 130k on it. All all of the sudden the gas milage dropped to about 10 MPG ! I've just joined this board, but before I joined I did some reviewing first. Here's what I think i t could be: It could be the o2 sensor, or could be a fuel hose leak on the 2nd, 4th, and 6th cylinders.

I'm leaning towards the o2 sensor, because anything I try to fix, isn't easy.

Anyone got any ideas or better suggestions?

Thanks,
Dale

Any hesitation when accelerating???

If so, Id say O2 sensor all the way!!! get the Bosch replacement from Carparts.com and use the 33%discount coupon from importhookups.com and get a new one for around $65!! check the fuel filter too, might be clogged too! DAMN, 10mpg thats freaking terrible!!! I'd get the hoses replaced too, if not already, after all its got 130K on it!!!

It accelerates ok, however, when it's cold it takes longer than "normal" to shift. Gotta look at those hoses tonight. Gonna check the fuel filter also.

Can the 02 be bad even if acceleration is ok?

Nissan dealer wants $60 to hook it up to the computer. In my past experiences, these "code readers" don't always tell the right answer.

I have a Haynes manual for the Max. It talks about running a Self Diagnosis using the on the ECU. Probably will try this also.

Anymore ideas?
