Help with clutch install

First off, I have a 92 SE. We're in the process of removing the transmission to replace the clutch with an ACT clutch.

1) We've got the drivers side axle out with no problem, the passenger side seems to be more difficult. Can anyone help with some pictures or descriptions on where to pry the axle off the transaxle? I've got a FSM and it is proving to be no help. Also, how do I get the transaxle out?

2) What do I do with the hydraulic clutch line? If I remove it, how do i do that?

3) Anything else I need to know?

I'm sorry this was so long, thank you for all your input.

1. In order to get the pass side axle out, you'll have to remove hte 3 bolts on the carrier bearing, just next to the Y pipe.
(I recommend pulling the y pipe alreayd, as it makes everything easier to get to on the transmission and axles.)

sometimes the axle will then slide out, sometimes you have to pry it out of the carrier bearing. I've owned cars with both.

2. just unbolt the clutch slave cylinder from the side of the tranny and bend the hoses out of the way. there is no need to open the hydraulic part of it, as the hoses are rubber.

Thanks for the info, I already had the text document, It's helped quite a lot. Only problem, on number 6, what is it that we must be sure to remove?

We're going to go try it now, I'll post the results.

transmission fluid?

Ok, I've gotten the tranny out now and we're working on changing out the clutch. what kind of transmission fluid do I need to put back in it? My owners manual says "Manual Transmission Gear Oil: API GL-4". I don't know what that means. Can someone please help me?

Thank you.

I put 80-90WT Gear oil (LSD approved) in my 92SE.

Your going to need to go to the store anyway, so bring your owners manual with you and make sure its right.

There's gear oil that you can buy it says API-GL-4 on the bottle. However, I would suggest that you use this stuff call Redline MT-90 (Synthetic gear oil). It's pretty good.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to the store now. Also, about my previous post about the flywheel, I got it off so nobody has to reply to that one. Thanks anyway though.

Ok, Its all back together and I just drove it home. (I was in Louisville and I live in Lexington) It seems like it is engaging pretty close to the floor, how do I adjust that? I looked in the FSM and it doesn't help much. We bled the clutch fluid and that helped a little but I'd still like it to engage a little higher up. Thanks a lot.

the ACT does engage a lot sooner and takes time to get used to. I think that is why you are noticing the clutch pedal height that it engages at.
