A pillar removal?

I USED THE SEARCH.

When my grand mother gave me my maxima there were some cigarette burns in the driver side A pillar (i think that is what it is called). Does any one know how to remove it without it breaking or something? I'm sure I could get it off but never done it so I want to make sure nothing breaks or something. Also would it be possible to put new cloth on the pillar. I have the tan cloth. Any help would be appreciated. THank you.

first try to pull it off with your hands if not get like a flathead screwdriver in there and gently shimmy it down the pillar working your way towards the dash, the pillar should pry off...i did this when i installed my tweeters; go fuzzy pillars!
