I read another post about the dreaded vtc problem on the ve engine. The post did not say what it is.Can anyone tell me?what is it and how it sounds and how loud?I have a 1992 se 5 speed dohc I know I have a broken manifold bolt but reading of this problem has me worried.

It's the springs in the cam sprockets that go bad, symptoms of failing VTC's are loud ticking at idle, and loss of low end power. there is a mod to disable the VTC's.

go to my page (click on the pic of my car below) and then goto how to section and then VTC; read everything first before starting project
it shouldnt' take more than an hour at the most. It took me about 20 minutes and I was going very slowly since I was the second to do it and I was busy trying to get pics at the same time.
I've had no problems whatsoever with the rewire and no more VTC tick so read up and decide if you wanna do it. If you have any more questions, let me know.
