Help with Vapor Recovery System

OK Guys went to get the 89 SE emissions testeed and it failed vapor recovery. Is this a common condition? How do I go about checking it?

The first place I would look...

is the charcoal canister. Remove battery and relay box and you'll see it mounted right beneath them. Retrace lines for busted hoses. Also make sure the canister is not busted on the bottom, that is where mine broke. If it is comming apart there, I just reglued mine and it's been fine for 2 years now. Otherwise, if you do end up needing one, go to a junkyard. If they know you they may give it to you. If you go to Nissan, be prepared to take out a small loan. Well, it's not that much, but I'd never buy one new for what Nissan wants for one!
