I have a loud progressive ticking noise and heard that lifters are a common problem for this car... it had 114,000 miles if so, how much are parts? and how hard?

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Before you get flamed REALLY bad, one acronym to help you along:

VTC's.

 

I just happen to lurking thru and I'll figure I help before others tell you to search.
Lifters no, VTC yes
VTC are commonly known to go bad in the VE engines, with 114K you're right about that time of the engine when they will start to make noise. They are temporary and permanent (nothing permanent when it comes to machanical devices) fixes. Temporary equal grounding the VTC, permanent equal replace/rebuild the VTC. Good luck young wise one.
