BMW Headlight conversion and speed dif.

how much is it to do a BMW headlight conversion and how hard is it.? Where do i find the parts to do it. Also i have a 3g (94) GXE and was wondering if since my odometer read 125 and the se reads 145, if i can go 145. also can i change my odometer to 145 or higher and then get it re-callibrated, does anyone know the max speed on a GXE maxima, 3g, before limiters begin.

If you want some sweet DDE's for the BMW conversion, e-mail umnitza@pacbell.com, he's got some great support there and good prices.
I dunno about the gauge question, but to answer about top speed... There is no speed limiter, just a rev limiter... if you were to theoretically hit the rev limiter, I think someone here did the math and it would be about 187 or something like that...
Fastest I've ever had my GXE is to about 1/4" from the H on the gauge... Dunno how fast or how accurate it is after 125, but it was prolly well over 130.

took me about 6 hours and around 300 in parts.....I had to buy a dremel....so, it was around 200-225 for the accual parts. Search on the topic and you should find a few write-ups on doing it.

speedometer, not odometer. I figure since they are the same engines, they might "might" match. Of course after doing the swap, you'll have to run beside someone to see if the speed is what it says it is or sumpth like that. Think you can do the E36 conversion?

the headlights u can get them at ur local BMW dealer and its a good DIY job if ur mechanically inclined. as for the gauges i already did the swap in installin' '93 SE gauges from my stock GXE gauges and it works perfectly fine. but with the E-36 conversion its pretty easy just look for the write-ups and that will help u alot man.

good luck,
rick
