Trunk Spoiler Rust

I have a 1991 SE with a OEM spoiler (I believe). I have some rust spreading around the area where the spoiler meets the trunk. There are two screws attaching each side of the spoiler to the trunk, and both the rear screws have completely rusted through (making it able to left the back end of the muffler off a bit). The rust is bubbling up the paint and I've noticed lately that it seems to be spreading more and more. What can I do? Here are some pics:

Right Side
Left Side

Any help or info would be very useful. Thanks!

take the car to a body shop where they can remove the spoiler and work on the trunk, if the trunk isn't too bad else you might need a new trunk, but of course you know you need a new spoier because OEM sucks!...mine rusted thru so I took it off and had the side holes filled....kept the middle ones though...thinking about doing something with them...good luck

That's a good price. If you don't jump on a deal like that you can always go to car-part.com and find a trunk in your area. They can vary in price anywhere from $400 to $250 on there.

It's easier and cheaper to just buy another trunk lid if you can get the lid in your color. (to anyone having this problem).

I have never really seen any 3rd gen Maxima SE that HASNT had this problem. The stock spoilers are just pure crap. Those damn things should have been recalled.

If you take the spoiler off, expect your lid to fly up fiercely when you pop it. Those lids without spoilers had different spring tension at the hinges. Even though the spoiler is light, believe me it makes big difference. Now my lid really flies up. But I have mastered popping it with the my right hand, back to the car, pivot on left foot and catch lid with left hand.

Hey nstymax93!

The trunk looks pretty decent. You said you were willing to sell? Is the offer still up? How much would shipping cost to Naperville, IL 60565? Also how would you swap the trunks? I dunno how to do it (like physically install it). Also if it's possible, let me know if you wanna jess PM the business stuff. Thanks!

"jess PM business" meant did you want to Personal Message to work out all the business mumbo jumbo and what not. Anyways, I can imagine that the shipping price would be pretty high. Go ahead and personal message me so we can work out some of the finer details. And where are you from? Maybe I could possibly pick it up, if you weren't too far away. Let me know, thanks.
