lowering question

i have a 92 gxe, ~162000 miles, new tranny at 155k, blah blah blah... my stock suspension parts (shocks/struts) were probably replaced a good 50k miles ago, so they're pretty used. i want to lower my car, and i dont have the money to get springs AND struts now. i know that it is better to do both at the same time so you only pay for labor once, but i dont care about that. my question is which type of lowering springs would be best to use if im going to still be using stock struts for another several months? i would assume that the less the drop, the less stress on the struts, so maybe something like eibachs (1.5") would be alright. any input would be appreciated. thanks

I have a 93' SE and when I originally lowered my car back in July 00' I just put the springs on and didnt replace the struts. I put Intrax springs on and i just replaced my struts 2 months ago with KYB. I like the Intrax spring but its your call. You could go a few months with stock springs on (i went about 5-7 months on my stock struts before going bad). Good Luck!

From what I understand, it's all about the spring rate. If that is in fact the case, Eibachs would be your worst choice. I know that it has nothing to do with how much of a drop it is. It's all about the spring rate matched with the damping rate, so I would say NOT Eibachs, considering thier autocrossing reputation. Go with a spring that is less stiff... anyone disagree??
