ok i was looking around for a VG30DET for my friends 280z and i came across this website that shows just about every engine nissan has made. i was searching through it and came to the maxima with the j30 chassis 3rd gen. they said the engines that came in it were the vg30e and vg30de... 88-94. also, it says it is a front engine front wheel drive car. maybe just incorrect info on their part or could it be true? scroll a little over half way down. http://www.freshalloy.com/cars/nissan/super_matrix.html

although, those VG30DET's that they have over in japan, they are actually quite small looking without the massive dual intake things. I almost think it might work. If my friend gets his VG30DET for his 280z i'll measure it and see.
