I found coolent on top of my power steering pump. I cannot figure out where it is coming from. It is not a huge amount but three or four big drops and I see them only I drive about 10 or so miles. The location of the PSP is such that I cannot see where it is coming from. Could it be possible it is leaking through the timing belt covers i.e., my water pump is leaking or something. Are there any hoses that are running near the power steering pump? It is driving me crazy. please help.

hmm..i think water pumps are kinda common to go out on these cars but i would try to trace the heater hoses from the firewall back and see where they go(i cant recall if they go to that area or not). maybe its just a hose if you're lucky. If not..time for a water pump + timing belt replacement(you'll be at it anyways if u replace the pump)

Thanks for your response foo90SE. It seems you have the same car as I do. There are no heater houses there I have checked. My fear is also that the water pump and the T-belt. I hope that is all what is wrong with it.

timing belt...

Well I just had my water pump and my timing belt replaced, and a good indication for me to tell if the water pump was blown was a squealing coming from one of the belts when the engine idled. This was due of course to the coolant leaking onto the belt and causing a squealing noise. Hope it isn't a water pump cause it sure ruined my day.
