stanza transmission

Searched and found a couple threads, but no definite answer does the automatic transmission from an 89-94 stanza 2.4L 4 cyl DEFINITELY bolt up exactly with that of an 90 maxima. Any answers would be much appreciated, emailed a seller on e-bay who sells them saying that they do, still waiting for his reply. Need to find out soon, just waiting for the tranny to completely slip and leave me stuck somewhere.

Re: stanza transmission

The Stanza transmission will bolt up. The years you're looking for is the 1990-1992 Stanzas.

Re: Re: stanza transmission

I also know the altima will use the same manual tranny as the stanza probably maxima also, as far as automatic's i wouldn't know right now if it'll work. That would be nice though, to be able to put in a low mileage altima tranny, since they're so common.

I'm not gonna say yes..or no. It's a maybe. The KA24E trannys will work. Ka24DE manual tranny should work, auto i'm not sure about. It's worth checking into.

the auto i'm sure won't work. i went and looked at a auto altima and the tranny was basically upside down coompared to ours. the big black pan thing on the top of our autos (i think the valve body but i'm sure since i don't care about autos ) it was on the bottom of the altima tranny. the bolt pattern appeared to be the same though.

all of the 240sx's use the same tranny as the older non turbo 300zx's according to some tranny site i was looking at. so i think the ka24e and ka24de have the same bellhousing.

nah..the 90-92 Stanza Automatics are the same as the maxima automatics and will bolt up without a problem.

90-92 Stanza manuals may be the same, but you should check it out first. Probably would work easy.

I'm not sure about altima trannies.

I've nbeen told the bellhousing is different between the Stanza/Altima and the Maxima. I can't say for sure that it is true but that's what I heard once.

Based on assumption, I would think the bellhousing would be quite different..4cyl to V-6. But I never heard that the 240 and the 300z shared bellhousings. If this is true, then the same probably goes for the stanza to max interchange.

This is off of www.drivetrain.com

Car: Year: # of Gears: Type of Tranny
240sx 1989-96 5 FS5W71C
300zx (n/a) 1984-89 5 FS5W71C

I'll go take a look at my brother's 95 240 today and see if i can notice some similarities (which i hope there are)

That's cool, really opens up the possibilities of finding reasonable cores or replacements.

OK, I posted the KA24 to vg30 tranny interchange on www.z31.com One reputable member there claims that this is "completely bull****" He says he knows from first hand experience. This makes sense to me, as a 4 cyl block and V6 are no where near the same dimensions.

Are you sure that site is right because it says the 92-96 maxima has the same tranny...
