rota wheels

ok so im planning on getting the 18" rota wheels from the gd forum, but im not sure wether 48mm offset will fit on the max or not. the calculations i did seem to fit, but i wanted to see if anyone else was using the same offset. i assume at stock height i would be ok, but i need them to tuck and not rub on my wheel openings. any suggestions, comments etc? i know chris with the white 91 has them, but im not sure what offset he has. thanks.

PS before anyone flames i know we run stock 35 mm offset, i couldnt find anything on 48

48 is too high of an offset. i spaced mine out to 43mm but i rub up front like **** when turning and the rears are CLOSE to the strut...REAL close. i'm planning to space them out to 38 which is the ideal offset for a 3rd gen but that requires elongating the wheel studs which from what i hear isn't an easy job

youres are a 38 offset?. i was assuming the offset was the opposite of the back spacing, therefore the bigger the off set, the more they stuck out. i need then to stick out some since when the car is slammed the rears are dam close to the strut. i searched everywhere but cant find a diiagram explaining offset and i lent my friend my text book so i cant use that. i love the way the wheels look, but if they wont fit on the car that would suck

the wheels im running now are 16x7.5 and the back measures 5.75".ive converted that to mm and it doesnt make sense, but the opposite(outside) is about right(1.75" at approx 25mm per 1" is 43.75mm, therefore, if the front of the rim sticks out more, then i have more room for my strut. make sense? ..........but im not sure and dont wanna be stuck with these wheels!

i dont get what your trying to say, its so damn confusing, but the larger the offset, the closer it is to the center of the car, thats why all of those mexicans ride on 20mm offset wire wheels. i heard that stock offset is 40, i ordered 18x7 in 42mm offset, if they are too close to the strut then just buy some H&R spacers, the come with extended bolts so everything will fit right

the higher the offset the less they'll "stick out"...essentially my fronts are tucked in too much right now...

ok i got this from wheelmax but theres a good explination on http://www.usacomp.com/Offset.htm and a great calculator here . from what i got from my calcualtions a 6 inch wheel (stock) with a 35 mm offset(stock, has a back spacing(measurement from the back of the mounting point to the end of the back of the rim is 4.4 inches ( ceterline us 3 inches, plus a 35mm iffset in inches is 1.4). what im riding on now are 7.5 in wheels, with a back spacing of 5.75 inches, 1.35 inches closer to the strut. this makes my current offset 2 inches. or 50 mm. therefore 48mm offset should "stick out" another 2 mm. in theory they should fit. chris you are true, the higher the offset the more they stick in, but keep in mind that it is directly affected by width, so a 6 inch wheel with a 35 mm offset and a 7.5 in wheel with a 35mm offset are not the same and the 7.5 inch wheel actually sticks in and out another 19 mm!

sorry if this confused the **** out of anyone, i just felt if theres anyone out there planning to buy wheels it may help.

take it from someone who installed a 7.5" wide wheel w/ a 48mm offset...it doesn't fit so there's no way yours can be 50mm. might want to check your calculations again. my wheel went on but the tire was directly on the strut. even at 43mm i'd say there's only 1mm of space to play with.

215/35 is awfully small...it'd probably throw your speedo off

ill probably still get them and worst case is ihave to get spacers. i think the wheels i want he only has in 48mm offset. seems that 45 and under should be better. also keep in mind mysuspension is all custom, so if i have to i can shift stuff in to help clear the wheels, not my first option, but still an option, go to the calcualtor link and itl tel youhow much further the wheel stick in and out. stick is 6 inches on 35mm offset

get the 48s don't listen to chris. he doesn't know anything. it'll look better too with 48mm anyway.
also get the skinnier tires..your speedo won't be off that much..so don't sweat it. oh and forget about spacers..you should be good to go. u said you can adjust the suspension..so you're in the clear!
