Keypad LED mod, anyone tried?

I'm thinking about "modding" my keypad LED's to red. I noticed how the box behind the keys can be disassembled while installing door speakers. I am capable of doing it, but I don't think anyone else ever has. It's kind of lame, but still original.

I always hated having green LED's in my 'red rocket' it just doesnt work. I think the keypad lights up the keyhole so that would be part of the conversion.

What size bulb, do you know??? I thought about changing mine (along with the one around my ignition) to blue.

without looking at it, I'd guess radio shack part 272-1092 since that's the "12v minilamp" used for almost all of the interior

Maybe I'll drift into Radio Shack on my lunch break and pick up a few. I need a new project anyway...

I'll take apart my door panel when I get a chance and find out whether it's a bulb or LED's. It's too bright to be just one LED. Maybe we/I should write a howto on changing them.

I was looking in the FSM for any info about this because I figured it would probably be another one of those minilamps but you are right, it is actually a LED. It doesn't have any specs or anything else about it but it does says and show in the wiring diagram that it is a LED.
