motor mount ????

I recently replaced the front engine motor mount about a month ago. After replacing it, the motor still pulls up under tension and hits the underside of the hood. I has already left about 6 indentions which ****es me off. My ? is, would the motor mount do that if it was put in backwards.....or will it only go in one way???? Mine is sitting w/ the closed end facing the front of the car. And when you put it in gear, step on brake and give it gas......it pulls up about 3 inches or so...maybe less, but very noticable. The motor mount flexes alot too.
Thanks....Blake

did you replace ALL of your mounts? there's 4 total. that's my first suggestion. then take the old ones and fill them with urethane. let it cure for a couple weeks and stick 'em back in. you'll see a huge difference.

Is it possible to fill the mounts with them still on the car? How does one even know if the mounts are bad? I remember reading that the engine shouldn't move more than an inch when its rev'ed. Is this test accurate??

Thanks

no need to double post, someone is bound to look. i don't think it's possible to do it while on the car. you have to seal one side with tape and lay it down on that side and let it cure for a few days. i think the test is to just put it into gear and reverse and if it moves a lot they are bad, you may check that out a little more.

it's impossible to do on the car.

An inch is okay.. two or three inches is not okay.

how about 4...lol my engine moves like a beating heart. that is scary. my tranny makes a snap sound as i put it from R into D

and the test is when you put the e-brake on(protection) then hold the brake pedal and put the max into Dand hit the gas for a moment (really fast revs) and if you see that the eingine moves up and down then they are worn and that is really bad.. i have been needing the mounts for sometime now, um say 6 months or more.

The bad motor mounts forces your engine to rip/damage the tranny and the motor itself. there is alot of torque that is being lost IMHO and i hope that i will be able to do the urethane mod on the mounts..

matt---- do you have any pics of the moutns how they look like before and after the urethane mod? i still dont see how one side is open and the other isnt>?..

well so far i got quoeted as much as 300 for all 4.. witht he tranny or front motormount being like 100(+-)
